Hello!
My name is Devon James and I am a writer, photographer, and content producer based in Southern California. My professional journey all started with a GoPro and endless ambition.
I started my career in the surf industry as a photographer in 2018. This led into content production and film making with local surfers, athletes, and brands. After building a foundation in the world of surfing, I was inspired to continue learning and developing as a creative.
This passion eventually became B-Side Surf, an independent and online surf magazine. The publication is centered around unique surf styles and personalities who represent the best part of the surf industry. Creating this magazine allowed me to further explore my love for surfing and sharpen my skills as a content creator. Some of my most recent work has been with brands such as RVCA, Distant Local, RoadTrip Nation, and PBS.
Along with my work in sports, I have also worked with several newspapers as a freelance photojournalist. My most recent work has been with the Voice of OC and Long Beach Post.
As I look to the future I am excited to continue my work as a creative and find new people who share my passions and implement them into their everyday practice.
